At a time, when agriculture is being
treated an economically un-viable
option, Ramrati - a small woman farmer
has proved that farming can earn a
decent livelihood for a family of 11
members that, too, on a 1.67 acre of
land!
Ramrati wins “ Woman Exemplar award 2011”
from confederation of Indian
Industry (CII), Delhi for her outstanding
performance as the best micro entrepreneur
and has distinguished herself at national
level on “farm management” She is the first
woman farmer of the State recognized
nationally and has received one lac rupee
as an award.

"Men have given up farming and lost
interest because of poor yield. But I
decided to experiment. Today with my
hard work and multi crop farming, I get
superior yield than my husband got. Now
I save over Rs 50,000 annually for my
11-member family. My daughter-in-law
too helps me when she is free from
domestic chores." Ramrati says |
Ramrati has
earnest desire to prepare thousands Ramrati
like her. On asking about the "Women
Exemplar award 2011", she said she had
never thought that she would reach to this
kind of national recognition, She is
totally committed to farming and shall
invest the money of award in agricultural
activities only. |
