AROH Yatra 2009
(Initiative on Joint Account on Land-Sahkhatedari Hetu Yatra)
Year 2007 and 2008 have been the milestone
for the AROH Campaigners- for thousands of woman farmers,
voluntary agencies and activists working on women farmers right.
Kissan Hit Adhikar Yatra (AROH Campaign in year 2007) largely
contributed in the campaign as at several forums and levels,
women are being recognized as women farmers. This yatra has been
brought out with several learning experiences which have set up
a base for further Yatra.
Now when woman are being recognized by
stakeholders as farmers, it is the appropriate time to initiate
the process on establishing ownership of women farmers on
agricultural land through state wide campaign.
In view of this purpose, AROH Yatra 2009
is focused on Sahkhatedari (Joint Account) of woman farmers on
agricultural land. Started from 15 January, the valedictory of
Yatra is scheduled on 22nd February at State Headquarter. Yatra
will cover the entire 70 districts (divided into 5 zones) of
states with the association of local NGOs and farmers.

AROH campaign in
Uttar Pradesh has shown it’s impact at various levels in making
women farmers issue an important one. A state level campaign on
Joint Land holding (Sah Khatedari) was successfully conducted by
women farmers, NGOs networks and other civil society
organisations in Uttar Pradesh. Valediction program of this
campaign was organised at Lucknow in which more than 400 farmers
and NGOs participated and shared their experiences and learning.
Individuals from different agencies and campaign like Mr P.V.
Rajagopal and Mr Ran Singh Parmar for Ekta Parishad, Rooprekha
Verma from Sanjhi Duniya and several others were present at
this occasion. Representative from Agriculture Department was
also present in the program. |
